Year End Celebrations

There are many reasons to celebrate the end of the school year! Use these tips to help students and teachers stay healthy while celebrating their successes and accomplishments.

1.       Reward your child with physical activity minutes rather than food. Not all celebrations need to involve food! Consider having a dance party in the living room, take the family on a nature walk around the neighborhood or enjoy some time at a local park.

2.       Raise up a water toast. Help your child stay hydrated and celebrate how your child did in school by offering up a toast with a cup of water at the dinner table. Celebrate your child’s good grades and the end of the school year  by “cheers-ing” family members.

3.       Say thank-you. Turn on some music and allow your child to write a thank-you note or draw a picture for someone who has helped them in the past year. Encourage them to think about family members, teachers, staff, bus drivers, friends or neighbors who have helped them achieve success in school.

4.       Keep snacks healthy and tasty! Help teachers to keep classroom celebrations healthy by providing nutritious treats. Check out our list of healthy snacks.

If you would like to make a recipe, Fruit Kabobs, Popcorn Trail Mix, Banana Burritos or Veggies with Creamy Dip are all healthy snacks that students will enjoy! Be sure to check with your school for policies on bringing foods into the classroom.
