Every Kid Healthy Week

Happy Every Kid Healthy Week from FSNE! All year schools work to improve the health and wellness of its students. It is time to celebrate those efforts! Every Kid Healthy Week is celebrated across the nation as reminder of the efforts that schools are making to improve the health and wellness of its students. It is an annual celebration of schools’ health and wellness achievements. From April 22-26, schools are invited to host an event promoting healthy eating and physical activity.

If you want to know more about Every Kid Healthy, check out this summary.

If your school is already planning an event in April, that’s okay! Make the focus of the event on healthy kids and families. Doing so is another great way to show your school’s commitment to wellness. Need some new ideas? Check out Game On for event ideas, activities for field day, and other resources to aide your planning. Below are some examples of activities:

  1. Host a taste test. Allow your students to sample a fruit or veggie that they have never tried before. Fruits and veggies to include could be mango, avocado, edamame, or radishes!
  2. Make celebrations healthy and active. There are many things to celebrate throughout the year such as birthdays and holidays. Instead of bringing in cupcakes, allow your students to choose a favorite activity, bring in their favorite healthy treat, or pick fruits to go into a fruit salad to celebrate a special occasion!
  3. Healthy fundraisers. Help your child’s school or club raise money through healthier fundraisers! Instead of hosting a bake sale, partner with a local farm to sell produce and share part of the profits.  Create a family cookbook with recipes from parents and sell to raise money.  Have a family game night and encourage all families to attend!
Your school doesn’t celebrate? Don’t worry! You can take the fun home. Check out this list of activities you can do at home. Help your little ones celebrate the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.
