Summer Meals

School is out for the summer! During this time of the year, kids usually eat more meals at home than during the school year. There are things we can do to stretch our dollar further during the summer. One great way to do this is through Summer Meal Programs in your area! These programs are easy to use and a great resource. Let us answer some common Summer Meal Program questions:
Are Summer Meal Programs only for young children? Anyone 18 and under can get meals through Summer Meal Programs.

Do my children have to be signed up at the site ahead of time to get a meal? Most Summer Meal Program sites are ‘open sites’. This means they are open to the community. Children do not need to sign up or even ‘check-in’ at the site.
Can my child receive a meal if we already receive SNAP benefits? Open Summer Meal Program sites will provide meals to children who get SNAP benefits.
Do I have to give personal information for my child to get a meal? At open Summer Meal Program sites children can receive a free meal. Parents do not need to give any personal information about their children.
There are over 1,000 places in Maryland serving free meals to children aged 18 or under! Use this resource to help stretch your food dollar. To find a summer meal site near you call 1-877-731-9300 or text FOOD to 877877
